Description
It's ALL Women's Work! For the 39th time, Washington Women in Trades is proud to produce an event that celebrates that very concept: It IS All Women's Work.
Event Details
Friday, May 11, 2018
Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center
9am - 2pm
Free! All are welcome
The 1,000 people who attend share that pride, too; they gather to teach, learn, recruit, apply for and secure new careers.
Exhibitors include apprenticeship programs, governmental agencies, colleges, vocational training and private companies. A few past participants have included King County, Seattle Public Utilities, Turner Construction, Vigor and GLY Construction. Some of the training programs include apprenticeships with the Laborers, Sheet Metal workers, Carpenters, Seattle Meat Cutters, Operating Engineers, Pipefitters and Electricians. We estimate over 80 exhibitors in 2018.
Some of the outdoor exhibits include Seattle City Light's climbing pole, King County Facilities' Build project and Seattle DOT's shovel test.
We encourage exhibitors to create interactive and engaging displays. Not only does it make learning more fun, it gives students an inside look at the craft. Also, the most creative exhibitors win a "best of" ribbon at the end of the day.
About the Attendees:
Schools from all over the region attend. Middle & high school aged students are introduced to the high paying, spirit empowering positions in the skilled trades.
Work ready women (and men) attend to explore options, too. Sometimes, a match is made on the spot. The exhibitor walks away with a new enthusiastic hire and the woman walks away with a living wage job.
We look forward to seeing you ALL on May 11 at Fisher Pavilion.
