Learn more about the findings of ArtsFund’s Social Impact of the Arts Study

Event Details

Did you know that 79% of King County residents believe arts benefit their personal well-being, yet only 28% think arts and culture promote social change at a community-level? ArtsFund's Social Impact of the Arts study seeks to correct this misperception. The study probes the potential for arts to influence more equitable outcomes, exploring how arts affect not only whether social impacts happen but with attention to how and for whom. The ArtsFund study is one of the early publications in the nation – and the first in our region – synthesizing arts’ impacts across multiple social themes.

In this session you’ll hear more about the study and how to use its findings to benefit arts organizations that you support. The report includes case studies featuring a number of WA Women’s Foundation grantees, and a panel featuring the leaders of some of these grantees, including Arts Corps, Delridge Neighborhood Development Association, and Seattle Arts & Lectures, will discuss ways to leverage social impact research to strengthen the case for arts support among policy makers, civic leaders, businesses, and other funders. Join us to better understand how equity matters in arts and how arts advance equity.

This event is open to members of Washington Women's Foundation as well as guests. This program also is the kickoff for the 2019 Arts & Equity Diversity Partner Grant Committee, so attendance is strongly encouraged for all members of this Committee. The first Committee meeting will begin immediately following the program.
