Description
Raw Storytelling for Women
Event Details
Speaking is a frightening experience for many women. Not trusting what we have to say, our fear of judgment, and of being seen and heard often keep us from speaking our truth. But speaking your truth can set you free and inspire others to do the same. Join us for an inspiring evening of raw storytelling on the topic of FEAR.
Tell us a story of a fear that you had or still have, or a frightening experience. It could be something you've dealt with in the past, are currently dealing with, or something you are worried about in the future. You are invited to come exclusively as a listener but are encouraged to speak. If you choose to speak, you will place your name in a basket and names will be drawn randomly.*
Story Guidelines:
Your story must represent your truth.
Your story should be between 5-7 minutes but may be shorter.
No notes are allowed. Trust yourself and speak your truth. Trust that what you have to say at that moment will emerge.
No self-promotion of your business, social media, website, etc. while on stage.
Tips:
Outline your story and practice but don't prewrite the whole thing and definitely don't memorize. When you memorize, you speak from your head and not your gut, which is where your truth lies.
Try a physical activity before practicing like dancing, meditation, breathing, or walking. Getting into your body will help give you more presence and impact when you speak.
Don't try to be perfect! No matter how your speaking goes, you will be applauded for being brave and daring to be seen and heard. It's about the journey, not the destination.
