The conversation will focus on working with males as allies in prevention, males supporting individual and collective male accountability in reversing/reducing harm, and increasing safety, health, and healing for men, women and children in their and other communities. This event is open to anyone interested in learning more about gender-based violence in the African American community.
Refreshments will be served.
Bettie Williams-Watson is the founder and executive director of Multi-Communities (M.I.C.), which creates connective relationships between predominantly African American faith and other communities for effective responses and solutions to violence. Ms. Williams-Watsons’ three decades of work with gender-based violence survivors has been recognized locally and nationally. She has received the Ginny Nicarthy Award for Excellence in Advocacy by King County Coalition Ending Gender Based Violence and has been a National R.O.S.E. Award Nominee. Ms. Williams-Watson received the Martin Luther King Medal for Distinguished Service from the King County Council in 2018 for her work in African American faith communities. She has also been recognized by the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center for groundbreaking work in addressing domestic and sexual violence through the use of faith communities.
