Frequently Asked Questions

The cost will vary based on how involved the build will be and what you need to accomplish. Think about it the same way you would of building a house. What type of features will it have? How big will it be? Is it a mansion or a tool shed? What I can tell you is that the average cost of our web projects generally fall between $3,000-5,000. Each project is built with a focus on the customers needs. All of our websites are optimized for good search placement. Additional expenses to consider. * Annual hosting * Domain * Email * SSL Certificate * Third party software that might need to be included. * Extended maintenance programs Still more things to consider: Your website will be an extension of your company and should be treated with the same respect. It will likely be the first experience someone has with your company. When building a website it is important that you know why you are building the website and what you need it to accomplish for you. This will help to determine what features we incorporate. These days websites must be mobile friendly, secure, fast to load, and accessibility compliant. Websites take work and are never really done. If your website doesn't ever change or evolve, don't expect it to rank well in search results… We recommend using a CMS like Wordpress or Squarespace (for example), as this will allow you to update your website without having to hire someone when you need a change. Do make sure that you are versed in how to use these cloud based web programs or make sure that the company building your website has included an educational clause in the contract so that they can teach you. That being said - Urban Analog also offer maintenance contracts for those that are too busy to manage the website once it is built.
We have a variety of maintenance and management plans to choose from. Let us know what you need help with and we are happy to work with you. Plans come in 3-month, 6-month, and annual contracts.
This is another questions with variable answers. Typically a website can take between 3-weeks to a few months to complete. It really depends on how complex the project is, whether or not we are building it from scratch or using a CMS like Wordpress or squarespace or something. It will also depend on how many pages the website is, the types of features you require, and things like whether or not you are selling product from your site. There are a ton of questions to consider but - As this is an extension of your company - it is important that it is done right and we can promise you that. We offer a free one Hour consultation that is designed to help you understand cost prior to beginning the project.
A Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Helps you manage your customer data. CRMs come in many flavors but as a general rule they will help support sales management, integrate with your social media, provide a means of communication with your customers and your team, and provide actionable insights. If you need a good way to manage your customer data - A CRM might be a good fit for you. There are a lot of options and many of them are customized to their specific industry.
CMS stands for Content Management System and they allow you to quickly manage, update, and build your website, without having to engage with a lot of code. While you may not know what it means - Chances are you are very familiar with them. Some of the most popular CMS options include Joomla, Squarespace, Wordpress, etc. CMS makes it a lot easier for businesses to manage their website and keep information current and accurate. Most businesses use some sort of CMS - Whether they use something like WordPress or build their own custom CMS - they are a very valuable thing to have.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. There are two main parts to SEO - One is based on quality keyword rich content, the other is based on website structure and what I liked to call “Clean Code”. It is important to Google that your website is of clean design, secure, loads fast, and is compliant with accessibility issues. These
SERP Stands for Search Engine Result Page - When someone searches in a browser like Google, Bing, or one of the many other search engines - SERP refers to the page results that are returned. It is important because where you show up in these results can greatly impact your overall exposure, growth, and ultimate success of your company.
A Keyword is a word that is KEY to the content in a website. If you are selling Chevy Trucks…. CHEVY might be a keyword you optimize for. A keyword Phrase is a collection of keywords that work together. A keyword phrase might be “Where to buy Chevy Trucks nearby” like a small sentence - keyword phrases are also known as long-tail keywords… They offer more specificity. When Google looks at your website. It looks for concentrations (or frequency) of certain words. It looks for how those words are used in the content on the page and then ranks the page based on the probability of it being a good fit for those specific keywords. There is no special place to enter keywords that will guarantee your ranking for specific terms or keywords. It must be obvious by looking at the page as to what the page is about. An SEO specialist can help you to find the keywords that will help people find your business. Our job as an SEO agency is to tune each page to a collection of keywords or keyword phrases
Long-tail keywords are also known as Keyword phrases. They offer greater specificity and are paramount to a successful SEO strategy. As an example - If you were a Car dealer in Seattle that wanted to sell Chevy trucks - You will likely not rank better than CHEVY TRUCKS for the search term CHEVY TRUCKS. It also won’t likely help you out because the term is too high level or vague... You are more likely to get better results with a long-tail keyword or keyword phrase “Where to buy chevy trucks in Seattle”. The reason it is sometimes called a LONG-TAIL KEYWORD - is because if you look at a graph where the primary keyword starts at the top and then trails off with more and more qualifiers… You are following the term down a long tail of possible terms until you get to one that has the appropriate amount of specificity.
SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing. Google ads are the most popular for of advertising. When you conduct a search your ads generally appear at the top of the SERP (Search Engine Result Page). Here is an example of an ad on Google. Note that they are marked as an ad in the top corner. This dealership would be charged if I clicked on the ad. There is an awful lot of work that goes into managing SEM accounts and it can be very rewarding - BUT - It can also be a very costly and expensive marketing option. In addition to paying an agency to help you set up SEM - You will also be paying an ad budget every month. With an average (CTR) click through rate costing anywhere from a few cents to over 10 dollars per click (depending on competitiveness of market) It is important that you know what you are doing when using SEM to promote your business. By default Google will recommend Mass coverage… These “default/recommended” settings could cause you to blow through thousands of dollars a day. A great SEM campaign requires a strategy and measurable results that can help you assess the ROI. Without a strategy - you might be just throwing your money away. Google Ad words are not for everyone. Urban Analog offers a free consult where you can learn more and find out if Google Ad words is right for your organization. If you are just getting started and don’t have a reasonable marketing budget worked out… it is probably not a good idea to start with Ad words.
These gift cards are really just designed to get you to sign up for an account. Worst case scenario - Google has some great information about you and knows you are more likely to spend money with them in the future because you are already signed up - Worst case they have someone new to market to and know a lot about your business. If you were already planning an SEM campaign - It’s a nice little bonus - Otherwise… based on the the average cost of CTR) This essentially equates to somewhere around 100 clicks…NOT CONVERSIONS…Just clicks. Granted - as a small business, this might seem valuable - but may not be the best use of your time or your ad budget. Once you set up an account - I can promise you will be contacted by a Google specialist to help show you how to set up the account. While it might seem extremely helpful it is important to note that Google’s recommended defaults for setting up an account are designed to SPEND YOUR MONEY REALLY FAST. Urban Analog would NEVER recommend using the Google recommended defaults for setting up an SEM Campaign.
SEO can be expensive - it can also be free. This depends on how engaged you want to be in the management of your own website health. It is important to know that SEO is not something that you can just do and then walk away from. It is like mowing your lawn. You will do a lot of work and then a few weeks later you need to do it all over again. SEO is about optimizing your website to be the best answer to a given question. That question depends on the person doing the search. this means we are constantly tuning your web content to be the best fit for the most asked question. You need to be current, compliant, and informative. Once you rank well for your keywords - Chances are that your competitors will try and take you down like a game of king of the hill. SEO needs to be looked at like a marathon and not sprint. SEO is not about conversion…It is about visibility. CRO (or Conversion Rate Optimization) is a term that relates to conversion optimization strategies.
SEM might seem expensive but it can also pay for itself. SEM often requires that you pay a person or agency to set up, manage, and maintain your account. If you do it yourself then this piece is free. If you have hired someone then you are paying for the time it takes to manage the account in addition to the amount you are spending on the advertisement budget itself. With SEM you are most likely paying for a click. This means that when someone does a query in a browser and sees your ad at the top of the screen, and clicks on it, you will be billed for the click. This is called Click Through Rate or (CTR) and the price per click can be anywhere from a few cents to several dollars. It is important to manage your account as the cost can get out of control quickly if you don’t set up your account correctly. As a rule you set a budget that you don’t want to exceed each month and your results will stay close to that amount. If you set a budget of 1500 a month - It is important to note that when you run out of money for the month - There might still be ads showing to people and so there is the potential that you might go slightly over your budget cap each month. Usually it carries over to the following month but you should be aware that that a 1500 budget might result in a few dollar overage or under each month.
CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) is a term that refers to an optimization strategy for converting people that visit your website into customers.
SMM or Social Media Marketing - like Google Ad words (AKA: SEM) SMM is about advertising or promoting your page/services by marketing on your social pages. Facebook is probably the most popular but Instagram has been really growing as a Social Marketing option. From boosting your reach to targeting specific groups - SMM can give you a highly targeted reach. However - while not as expensive as Google Search Ads - It can still be a fairly easy way to spend some money. Make sure you have someone that knows what they are doing to avoid overspending. A great SMM campaign has a strategy involved and measurable results
A Social engagement campaign is a campaign where we develop a strategy for posting, engaging, and maintaining your social network so that you can focus on what you do best. We create a first layer of interaction so that we are actively responding to, and keeping in touch with, your social base on your behalf. Our team is trained to field frontline questions in your “voice”. We will escalate and question, concern, or possible lead generation to you personally so that you aren’t randomized by your social crowd and can focus only on those engagements that require your attention. We also build a regular posting schedule and tune it to your engagement priorities so that we are all on the same page.
Listing management involves managing your brand across hundreds of search engines. We offer monthly management, maintenance, and upkeep of your listing across hundreds of applicable search engines. This is important for SEO and to ensure that your customers are not getting bad information about your business. A lot of search engines use crowdsourcing as a means of compiling data. We crawl these search engines and compare their result set to our master template and ensure that the information is accurate and not misleading. This also helps us track places where you may have good or poor ratings and then we can focus on damage control because of misinformation or add these great reviews to your testimonial collection.
We highly recommend setting one up. It is our belief that Google does not offer a tool in it’s SEO arsenal unless it intends it to be considered as part of your SEO campaign. That beings said - Google my business allows you to manage your local and Mobile first SEO campaign. Google my business controls your search results on Google maps. Did you know that Google Map top 3-4 results generally appear BEFORE organic traffic on Google search browsers?
