Downtown Seattle
About Downtown Seattle
Seattle, Washington is a beautiful port city with many amenities for tourists and residents to enjoy. They also have the four seasons presenting an array of seasonal activities that many people look forward to. The ferry system enables people to visit nearby islands and experience whale watching, an adventure only coastal cities such as Seattle can provide. Directly downtown on the water's edge is an amazingly huge marketplace called Pike Street Market that has been a famous landmark for many years. The market has several little shops displaying a multitude of arts and crafts, food shops, and fresh fish stands where anyone can purchase a sample of Puget Sound's daily catch. One main fish stand within the market is very famous for 'flying' fish which is how the merchants pass the fish from one worker to another - tossing them to each other in a way that makes it appear the fish are flying and entertaining all that see this amazing and controlled event. They also have incense shops, handmade clothing and jewelry, cafes with a large ethnic variety, specialty bookstores along with mouth-watering eating places such as Ivar's famous fish and chowder restaurant and Seattle's Best Coffee stands. Beautiful and unique artwork can also be found at Pike Street Market. Because Seattle is in an area with many rainy days year around, they have activities for both inside and outside of the market, making it a place with a wonderful and adventurous variety of activities for all to enjoy.
