Seattle ZeroLandfill 2019 | An IIDA NPC Event

Event Details

Returning this September, scavengers and creative minds of Seattle and afar will return to the excitement and anticipation of finding that most perfect “thing” at ZeroLandfill upcycle and repurpose materials give away event. Miller Community Center will open its doors at 9:00am on September 28th for the 8th annual FREE to the public Seattle ZeroLandfill community event sponsored by IIDA Northern Pacific Chapter patrons and supporters. Calling all educators, artists, crafters and home owners looking for materials, we need your help to reduce waste! This is a free event and everything inside is FREE for the taking. You just haul it away and re-use it!

The gym will be packed with a multitude of materials from local interior design and architecture resource libraries. You’ll find all kinds of wonderful items, from fabric bolts and memo samples, to carpet, tile, glass, metal and wood. Also empty 3 ring binder notebooks just in time for school or an organization project at home. Bring your creativity, some bags, boxes, or little red wagons and load up with treasures to repurpose into crafts, artwork, DIY projects, and home improvements at zero cost to you.

Our goal is always to divert as much material from the landfill as possible and we need your help. Up-cycled materials are given new life BY YOU! Our track record over the past 7 years has been fantastic, your scavenger instincts, thoughtful creations and willingness to participate is what makes this event a success! There is truly something for everybody.

Returning for the fifth year, Seattle ReCreative will set up in our Kids Corner for a supervised craft project from 10:30am-12:30pm. Their mission is to promote creativity, community, and environmental stewardship through creative reuse and art education. This non-profit organization serves hundreds of children and also helps divert materials from our landfills throughout the year. Seattle ReCreative projects are a big hit and it is always fun to see what the children create.

We love seeing your project photos posted on our Facebook page. Find us on Facebook ZeroLandfill Seattle and Instagram and share away! Use the following hashtags to follow along and post your creations: #sortNsave #zerolandfill
